Trip to Guatemala & the Mayan Temples
I'm sorry to @Davyd 'Red Cosmic Skywalker' Farrell for taking a little longer to post this than I'd anticipated but it was a busy few days on arriving home. Davyd asked me to share some photos and words on a recent trip I took from England to Guatemala travelling with author John Perkins who wrote Shapeshifting and Confessions of an Economic Hit Man about his experiences realising he'd been doing the American government's dirty work making poor countries poorer and extracting all their resources whilst destroying their lands and in the process nearly dying and being saved by a shaman in Guatemala many years ago. The trip was organised with Andean Paths by a man called Daniel Koupermann who has spent 40 yrs bringing western people into the worlds of indigenous people in South America in order to learn from them and return home with those learnings to make the world a better place. We travelled with 3 shamans Tato Domingo, Nana and Julio who are mentioned in some of his books and visited Lake Atitlan, Antigua - visiting the churches of the dead and the living, Chichicastenango markets on market day, Tikal, where several fire ceremonies where conducted with the shamans including one at night in a secret temple, and another by Lake Peten Itza where we immersed in the lake 13 times as lightening struck and we found ourselves in the middle of one of the biggest storms I ever saw, literally right as we were about to do the ceremony, it came out of nowhere. The trip was called Touching the Jaguar, and in this sense, the jaguar is your fears. The trip was eventful in that my room mate who I'd not met before, had a psychotic break which began during the fire ceremony at Tikal and escalated at night in the jungle with the Howler monkies seamingly warning us of this the night before. What particularly struck me was the shamans performed various cuttings of energy and other practices on her to help her but whatever was in her was too much for them. Eventually an ambulance had to be called to the jungle to take her to hospital and I kept thinking I wished Davyd had been there to help her. The following evening's ceremony was quite strange for me as the lead shaman was very drunk on rum - it was said that he was so struck by what had happened the day before he wasn't coping well. Others said that the shamans take the rum to help them face what they need to in the ceremonies - but I found that difficult to watch and would love some thoughts on that. Here are the details of the trip which I am still processing. What was also interesting is that well over half the trip were very wealthy Americans, but ones who'd travelling with Daniel before to Ecuador to meet with the Achuar people in the Amazon to learn from them and take Ayuwashka with them and were part of the Pachamama Alliance that John set up. Trip: "Today, Mayan elders and shamans are dedicated to leading us into a new era of compassion and transformation. “Touching the Jaguar” to Mayan and Amazonian Indigenous cultures means confronting your fears and transforming them into action to change ourselves and the world. It is also the title of John’s book, Touching the Jaguar: Transforming Fear into Action to Change Your Life and the World.
Soar into the power and mystery of the ancient prophecies. Join John Perkins, NY Times bestselling author and leading expert on indigenous cultures and shamanism, Daniel Koupermann, expedition guide and environmentalist, and local Mayan shamans (“Nanas” for women and “Tatas” for me), teachers, and Day-keepers (Calendar readers) on this life-changing adventure to the mountains and rain forests of Central America. Apply “shapeshifting” approaches; elevate yourself to higher states of consciousness; touch your jaguar; receive personal healings, calendar readings and divinations of your future from Mayan shamans; transform yourself and the world around you.
December 21, 2012 was identified by Mayan astrologers more than a millennium ago, as the Great Turning – the beginning of a time of amazing opportunity to “shapeshift” human societies away from exploitation, brutality, and materialism into cooperation, compassion, love, and spirituality. The prophecies proclaimed that the process would begin several decades earlier and continue for many to come." Pachamama Alliance link if of interest: https://pachamama.org/. I also had a seed reading and my nahual reading based on my date of birth but cannot understand why it's so different from my reading and glyph from @Bella Alvaran and would love to understand as none of the glyphs were the same.
