PART ONE:

So in empathy for those now in the Tribe just starting out with the Mayan Galactic Time/Calendar I really wanted to help, if I could, ease the way a little bit, since I clearly remember how lost I was at the start.  I do want to preface, however, with saying that this process is experiential, book learning will only get you so far on this particular journey (much to my Type A studious self’s frustration at the start).  But the knowledge WILL come and it WILL be worth it, but it does take time and you must be patient with yourself and the process.  My best advice is to just open to the information and when you are ready to receive, things will slowly start to make sense and click into place.  When those times happen it’s awesome!  (Also, repetition cannot be underestimated.)

Beyond Bella’s courses of Mayan Time & Magic and the Navigation Guide (which are the ultimate for learning this material and highly recommended) there were a few things that helped me along the way.  The first being the 13:20:Sync app, which Davyd has mentioned several times and that many tribe members use daily for a quick and easy reference.  Of course you can tinker around inside the app after you download it to find all the nooks and crannies but I thought I might give a quick sort of tutorial on the basics to get people started.  I hope it is of some help.

When you first open the app in Calendar mode, it will show the information for the current day.   it will look like this:

If you tap on the Glyph in the top left of the screen, a window will open that gives you the Power, Action, and Essence of both the Tone and the Glyph.  It will look like this:

In the top right of the screen is the Oracle for the current Glyph.  If you tap on the Oracle, a window will open that gives a little more detail, and will look like this:

Moving down the screen, under the affirmation, the current wavespell information is displayed.  If you tap in this area, a window will open that zooms in on the wavespell spiral, “highlighting” with a thicker black border, the position of that day’s Glyph within the current wavespell, as well as listing the current castle that the wavespell is in.  It will look like this:

In the bottom left of the screen, if you tap on the graphic of the Tzolkin, a window will open that zooms in so you can see it more clearly.  The glyphs are in a column along the left and the big black dot marks our current position within the organic matrix of the Tzolkin.  It will look like this:

In the bottom right of the screen there are 2 boxes of information.  The top box gives a quick glance at the current Moon that we are in.  If you tap in this area, a window will open that gives more detail.  It will look like this:

And on the bottom right of the screen, in the bottom box, it should say “Today”.  However, if you tap on this box, a window will open that will allow you to choose any date, that will then change the screen to all of the information for the date that you just chose.  (You can always get back to the current day by tapping in the bottom right box again, the window will open again, and then just select “Show Today” at the top of the window, and the screen will revert back to the current date, “Today”.  It will look like this:

That should be it for the basic basics.  Now, to get to a little more info for reference and personal study. Along the bottom of the screen you should see a horizontal menu with 5 categories.  If you tap on the last one “13:20 Info”, the next page should look like this:

If you then tap on the option entitled “Tzolkin” it will bring you to a new page that will list categories you can select for further explanation/exploration.  This is a good place to start for basic information and very helpful for beginners, or even review for those with more experience.  It will look like this:

However, one of the most helpful areas for me when I was first starting out was the 2 categories for the “13 Tones” and the “20 Seals”.  When you select these from within the “13:20 Info” Tab it opens a list of the Tones and Seals that you can reference daily.  This was extremely helpful until I started to remember on my own the significance and meaning behind each Tone and Seal/Glyph.  Every day I would open the app, look over the info for the day on the Calendar page, then look up the Tone and Seal in the “13:20 Info” section, and read both of those sections for a better understanding of the energy for that day.  I did this every day until it started to sink in.

If you are a visual learner, there are also Video Tutorials that you can find in the “13:20 Info” Tab, toward the bottom, under the category “Information”.  After tapping on “Information” the page should look like this:

Just tap on “Video Tutorials” and it should bring you here:

One last thing - all of the above is for the smart phone app, but there is also an app specifically for iPads that lays out all of the information above on one big screen.  It’s actually really nice.  I use both apps depending on my situation.  The iPad app is called 13:20:Sync-DB.  A screenshot of what the layout looks like from the iPad version of the app:

A heartfelt THANK YOU for this excellent tutorial on the app. I am just returning from two months in Mexico where my energies and intention were focused on family. Just now getting settled and wanting to dive in deeper. Your magnanimous efforts are greatly assisting this! As someone who also writes guides, manuals and explains complicated concepts to others, I doubly appreciate your offering!
