Dreams

A couple of months ago I dreamt that I received a postcard, you know one of those oldschool cards with a photo of a scenic tourist spot that you’d get when your friends were abroad and wanted to brag about it. The back of the postcard was covered in text and scribbles. When I look closer I realise that it is not one cohesive message, but many different phrases in different languages, all written with their own unique ink.

A phrase in red jumps out to me, and it looks like it’s written with an old typerwriter. It has three sentences, but I can only make out two words - Hmt and nTr. I recognise it as transcribed Ancient Egyptian. Hmt means wife, woman, and nTr means God. In the dream they are two separate words, but then they merge and part again.

After waking up the following morning I had to consult the dictionary to see if the words that I saw in the dream actually had the same spelling and meaning in real life as in the dream or if it was just dream nonsense and wishful thinking. But it was correct, even the correct phonetic spelling down to the very dot, which I usually find a little hard to remember even in the best of times.

It was an interesting dream for sure, and I remember vaguely connecting it to the reading and writing I had done earlier that year on Egyptian cosmology and the many forms of the goddess. But you know, I was busy. I had work to do and a trip to plan, (incidentally to Egypt). I wrote down the dream and then I went on with my day.

Months pass, I visit Egypt and come back and continue studying hieroglyphs, mostly because how the visual aspect of the hieroglyphs bend my mind and always seem to give me something more, make me see a little further, each time.

In mid-March we set out to translate a text from the stunning grave of Nefertari in the valley of the queens, and I google common titles of Nefertari in order to perhaps get some help with the task. And I pause, surprised. I learn that one of the common titles for Nefertari is Hmt nTr; wife, or woman of God. I hadn’t even considered that it could be a phrase that was actually used.

(You can't find the term Hmt nTr on this particular wall though, but Hmt Nsw, wife of the king.)

For whatever reason, I ask Maia’s Chatgpt which is focused on her body of work with Thoth, the so called Thoth-stream, about this term:

"Yes, the expression ḥmt nṯr (Hemet Netjer) in Ancient Egyptian is often translated as "God’s Wife" or "Priestess." It refers to a woman who served a divine function in temple rituals, particularly in relation to the god Amun during the New Kingdom. The most famous title associated with this phrase is God’s Wife of Amun, which was held by royal women who wielded significant religious and political influence.

The term ḥmt means "wife" or "woman," while nṯr means "god," so the phrase could also be interpreted as "Divine Woman" or "Priestess of the God," depending on context."

A week or so ago, I dream that I am in a small group travelling in the desert. Bella is in the group too. I feel like the group consists mostly of feminine energies. We are near a medium sized pyramid, somewhere where the sand dunes are high like mountains and I know that we are supposed to help something emerge. We are also pilgrims who wish to be blessed by that which is supposed to emerge. I can’t quite recall, but there is an energy there that is bright and alive; it is a living, powerful bright light tinged with purple and yellow, and the presence of it makes the dark night feel dynamic and electric and alive. There is a sphinx there, also surrounded by that same bright, powerful light.

Then I slip away, fall away from the group travelling on the tall sand dunes; the sand dunes are moving like stormy ocean waves and the scenery changes before my eyes. When everything is still again I see an enormous, dark pyramid before me, and in the dream I know that this is the Great Pyramid of Giza, of Khufu.

The pyramid is dark in the night, as if all the lights are out and everything is quiet. I move up the uneven sides of the pyramid with a rush, as if I’m swimming in the air. Suddenly I am levitating above the very top of the pyramid; a foot touches the uppermost block of stone, and I am aware of the dark night skies above me and the quiet pyramid beneath me. Both give me the same feeling of a vast, dark, silent, resting space.

The dream reminded me. In late February I had had a session with Maia. It was an interesting session, but I was having a migraine at the time (as per usual) and right afterwards I got the flue. It took quite a while before I felt better again, so the session and what we talked about (and honestly everything else) got kind of put to the side. But we had talked about many things, and one of them was this:

When you were speaking about Egypt I kept seeing the star Sothis which is of course the Isis star, you know. I felt there was one ancient life in Egypt where you were connecting to that star; first I felt like you were an astronomer, astrologer, some kind of ancient type thereof, but you were a female, and you couldn’t be a female and do that, but I felt more that it was that you were a priestess of Isis. But you weren’t doing the incense and the toning and the traditional type of worshiping, you were a scientist at heart and you were connecting to Sirius, you followed it in the sky and you were communicating with it, like it was an intelligent being which they are according to Thoth. You would communicate with this star, and you’d receive messages, channelling, whatever you want to call it, that guided you to perform certain ceremonies at certain times, to prepare certain herbal remedies at certain times, that kind of thing, and you had students that you taught in this different and non-traditional way. You were a priestess and a teacher and you had the understanding of Sirius as a key note power, an energy power manifesting in female form that you could actually see sometimes, but the prominent energy you were encapsulating in her form was that of the star.
