The Seventh Moon of the Mayan year is the Monkey Moon.

The Maya called the monkey ‘Batz’ and they saw it in the sky as an enormous constellation that dwarfed nearby Aquarius, Capricorn and Sagittarius.

People born under this Moon will have the characteristics of the totem Monkey as well as the number 7 Seven is a ‘resonant’ number and is always associated with channeling energy.

It is the Moon of psychic experiences and growth through Intelligence. Monkeys are speculated as being our ancestors.

We are supposed to evolve from the Monkey. How did we evolve from Apes? Because we adapted to our environment and became more clever.

The legend of Monkey is universal. In China, Buddha allocated one year in every 12 to the Monkey in honour of this amazing animal.

The Hindu’s have a Monkey God called Hanuman. His is wise and regarded highly as a great healer. His a great protector of women and children.

Nazca desert in Peru, there is a giant figure of a Monkey, 260 foot long. His spiral tail representing, some believe, the swirling galaxy.

The Mayans certainly honoured the Monkey well, for not only has he a Moon named after him but a day in the Tzolkin as well.
