Bat represents transition and intuition, a very appropriate animal to begin the cycle of the year with.

 The Mayans saw the constellation of the Bat in the sky near our Leo, as the dates for the moon of the Bat are close to the dates for Leo (July 23 - August 23).

 The Mayans called the bat "Tzootz" and saw the bat as a master of the dark.

The bat has remarkable "sonar location" powers which is symbolically linked to psychic powers.

Another notable feature about the bat is that is the only mammal that can fly.

 It has more in common with us as a species but can fly like a bird.

This symbolizes the supernatural and can remind us that we too can rise above the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Bats also live in caves. Caves are powerful Mother Earth symbols as caves represent her womb, this is why bats are associated with rebirth and transition.

 It is most wise for ancient Mayans to have chosen the bat as a symbol to mark the rebirth of the year.

 As a symbol of transition therefore the bat speaks to us of letting go all that you have from the past that holds you back.

 Fears from old experiences, pain that alters your actions.  

 Start the new year fresh and reborn letting go all the negative things that prevent you from flying.

 Seek the darkness that has crept into your soul. You may not see it but you can find it with your own "sonar location".

Use the gift of intuition to tell you the truth and no longer will fear and pain hold you back with their lies.

Go forth from the womb and begin the new year, a new you.

 Clean your house from top to bottom or get a new hairstyle.

 Give up smoking or give up a worn out relationship. It is an excellent time to fly away to new places.
