I saw this beauty crossing the bike and walking path near my house this morning. She was quite large for spiders of this area, about the size of a quarter. We have wolf spiders and Daddy long legs that are bigger, but she was still very impressive. I don't ever remember seeing one just like her. From my research it seems she is a trap door spider. I stooped to get a look and take photos and she turned towards me and began walking towards my feet. I told her I was just wanting to admire her and make sure she got across the path without being run over or squashed by a bike tire. She seemed to understand and turned back to crossing. I stayed with her until she had traversed the path and was safely on the other side. It was such a lovely encounter. I would totally freak the %#$* out of she were crawling on me, but on the ground I enjoyed admiring her. 😂 🕷️ 🖤
